Well, with the economy what it is our group as a whole ~ artists, suffer the most since our work is not generally concidered critical to most people's survival. As such, our OWN survival is at risk... ugh.... Well, we see evidence of huge change in our market as disdain over Ebay's cavalier attitude towards its sellers prevails & people scurry to a million different venues opening up out there. Eventually this WILL be to our advantage I pray and we'll find our niche. Untill then, its tighten the buckle & hunker down for the long haul... its gonna be a bumpy ride!

Faerydae, you have the right of it with our having a site that is specific to our art. As we all get out there and sell at these different places hopefully our recognition will grow and we'll drive more to the site... This is gonna be a rough year as things settle into a new routine and people figure out where they are happiest for thier forums, selling &/or collecting.

In the meantime, the best thing we can do is to keep together as a cohesive group. To not lose site of the goal~ finding a market to Present our art! We need to keep creating... I am guilty of NOT following this in recent months and really am trying to find my mojo again! LOL !!

We all need to stick together and not lose touch. I am asking you all, if you can find a moment or two in what I KNOW is a busy life, to come in and update us briefly at least with how you are & what you're up to! Faerydae Started this with love in her heart and a goal for us all.... I'm gonna try to put forth the effort I lacked in recent months... Please join me!! I'd really love to get to know all of you!! I am a big fan of your work and so proud to be part of such a community of fabulous artists!!

Yes, content specific sites can really help us all - what it does is the following:

1- gathers a LOT of different artists with wildly different styles and skill levels into one space so that there is a constant flow of new things coming in from different sources. Why is this important? Because collectors WANT variety as well as discovering a new artist. All of us have our own sites or whatnot, but though it shows off our stuff, we, by ourselves, do not have as much interest or as big of a draw as say - 20-100 artists in one spot would. This makes it VERY easy for collectors to see what is new and being listed - NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIST! If you post what is available on your site, or ebay, your etsy, your zazzle, your cafe press, your ecrater, wherever it is you are selling here, it will encourage collectors to come here.

2 - it makes it REALLY easy to find us, as I mentioned above. I anticipate within the next year - showing up on all google searches in the first 4 pages for mermaid this or that.

3-collectors that start coming here and seeing your work will be more likely to find things that they want and will thus buy.


Don't forget ... if you use MRMD in your listing - and the main site, www.MermaidArtists.com will automatically pull up that in a search! We aren't asking for more of your time, but hey just a chance to promote your work FOR you. Really what do you have to lose?

Also we will start doing ads at some point in magazines, to get even more exposure and new traffic to the main site.

So if you don't have time to post and chat - totally understandable, but hey at least post your work and use the MRMD in the title as it might help your sales!!
